EXEtender is our carrier grade, Software-as-a-Service (‘‘SaaS’’), enabling technology product for the secure delivery of PC-based video games that are hosted on a centralized server and then delivered to end-user PCs through a broadband network. EXEtender enables:
Management, distribution and playing of video games, the majority of which have originally been developed for retail distribution, to be delivered from a network server to the end-user’s PC without the need to install or configure the video game;
Improved user experience, preserving the original video game features and adding advanced usability features;
Capabilities around copy protection and user access control;
Delivery of various video game types, including core, multi-player, casual and others; and
Integration of web-based authentication, authorization and user profile management systems.
EXEtender enables the service provider to employ various business models. In the second release window for video games, the brand strength of any single title will not be strong enough to drive the acquisition of end-users. The most effective model will be characterized by the marketing of a package of video games offering value to the end-user through package composition, rather than by the promotion of any single video game title.
Exent's digital distribution video games services are based on EXEtender™, which is comprised of the following modules:
- EXEtender™ Security & Delivery Platform - supporting download and streaming delivery methods and incorporating anti-piracy measures as well as numerous end-user usability features.
- EXEtender™ Online DRM - a full DRM solution, geared for managing a service offering games and applications, allowing for multiple business models including free, ad-supported, subscription, try-before-you-buy, purchase and rental models.
Exent further provides numerous usability features for end-users, making EXEtender™-based services attractive to casual and advanced users alike. Fully click-to-play, users do not need to perform tasks like manually checking hardware compatibility, performing installations and downloading new patches/drivers that are normally required for PC games. The Exent solution delivers a full CD-level game experience that is not degraded or stripped of valuable game assets.
